Computer Based Training

Our computer based training or "CBT" materials are unique in that the materials we create are rich in function, yet easy for the client to edit.  We realize that once we create a CBT course, the system which it refers to can and will change.  This includes possible changes in design, changes in operating parameters and changes in operation and troubleshooting.  We have therefore chosen an authoring software that is easy to learn so that clients can take control of their programs once we have produced them.

Authoring Software:

TTP has been using a software named "Trainersoft" for creation of its CBT materials for the last four years.  We migrated from Authorware to Trainersoft due to the requests we received from clients regarding their desire to be able to edit the programs we provide, as the need arose.  We have found that Trainersoft , which is now owned and distributed by a company named  "Outstart" is the best choice when ease of use, functionality and expandability are considered.  To learn more about Trainersoft software or to request a demo CD go to:  http://www.outstart.com/index.htm

Use of 3D Model Stills and Animation:

Since 1991 the owner of Technical Training Professionals, Mr. Fred Foster, has been committed to creating technical training materials which use VISUALIZATION OF TECHNICAL INFORMATION to clearly explain complex subjects.  A key part of this process is the creation and use of detailed 3D models.

The models we create are needed for creation of animations and for cutaways and other graphics.  Use of these models allows us to illustrate anything from molecular exclusion in reverse osmosis, to flow through the internals of huge equipment such as a combustion turbine or boiler.  Samples of our animations, 3D stills and other modeling and information can be found under the AREAS OF EXPERTISE tab, subtab: 3D MODELING AND ANIMATION.   To go to the tab direcly from here, click on the subtab title.

Man Machine Interface (MMI) Simulations:

Another unique feature of our CBT courses is our ability to cost-effectively create simulations of plant procedures, using control screens and steps performed in the field under actual conditions.  The software we utilize, "Softsim" by Outstart,  will record computer control screens, also called MMI or "man machine interface" screens, including mouse movements, required keyboard functions and subscreens.  We can then add audio or text the materials, then export them in a variety of ways for simulations.  The software we use, Softsim, is sold by Outstart and sample can be viewed by clicking on the following link:  http://www.outstart.com/index.htm

Review Questions:

We realize the value in providing review questions throughout our CBT materials.  We are also aware that review questions can reinforce or frustrate users, depending on their design and feedback.  TTP address this issue by allowing users the ability to click on a "Back" button to return to the corresponding materials in the CBT, review the materials and return to the review question, if they so desire.  Also, TTP provides feedback with correct and incorrect answers so that the person using the course knows why or why not their answer is correct.

Test Questions:

Our CBT materials include test questions, when requested by the client.  The tests are presented in a manner which allows the ability to review any questions that were missed, immediately see your score and to take the test over as soon as desired.  Also, test results are added to a secure access database that allows supervisors and others with access, to query test results by any parameter recorded.

HTML or Executable Files:

Our CBT materials can be delivered as executable (.exe) files or as HTML files that are fully functional over your Intranet or an Internet site.

Conversion to Other Languages:

TTP has the ability to create training materials in other languages, if requested.

Easily Edited and All Supporting Documentation and Content Provided:

One of our biggest selling points is that we turn over all graphics, test, storyboards and other development materials as well as the Trainersoft Authoring file.  This provides our client with total access to the program and gives them the ability to edit materials as the need arises, should they choose to perform the edits.

Learning Management System:

By using another Outstart product, Evolution Learner Manager (ELM), our CBT programs can facilitate many groups within a large company at different sites and with different departments and department levels.  ELM is a complete Learning Management System (LMS) that manages all of the administration that surrounds learning and training processes.
